One of the really cool things in vanilla wow was discovery, we didn't know much at the time about what was in the game and how our classes worked. So how do we bring back that feeling of discovery.
So with 7.0 hitting on the 19th this week I thought I would take a look at a hypothetical game launch!
With Legion coming out one thing is clear. Today's world of code reading and twitch streaming you can almost know everything about the game even before it launches. It actually takes a bit of work not to spoil yourself.
So my idea for a Wow 2 is a little unorthodox. Develop the whole game in house and test it on in house servers the best you can. Have all your art assets done, quests done, zones, audio, raids, animations DONE!! So all you have left is fine balancing and stress testing. Then you launch the game.
Now people don't like paying for a unfinished game so you make the first 3 months after launch free! This time serves more like a open beta where you can stress test the game and fine tune its balancing. After the 3 months time then people can decide to buy and sub to the game and continue where they left off at.
The idea behind this is to keep that feeling of discovery that we all experience when we first started playing wow regardless of what expansion we came in at.
This is just an idea but if anyone has actually tried this please let me know.

...Damnit that made me cry this morning.
Observation one: Big guy is about to regret this meeting, a lot.
Observation two: Arua and Veja are about to regret this meeting, a lot more. Why a lot more? Because they are the ones that are going to get stuck explaining what happened to some terra-pissed-off-bad authorities.
Yep, they're back in it deep. CAN'T WAIT.
