... I guess we'll need to wait for next week.

But really got to feel bad for Garry, all he ever did was guard a painting.

This is going to be one of those Arua gives an impassioned speech and vaporizes a few people isn't it?

No one's getting vaporized, but I bet this is when something spectacular will happen.

Nixie couldn't break her Shield. Xura didn't break her Shield. I doubt a hundred people with spears can break it. The Light will not abandon it's chosen.

She won't abandon the people she cares about. That's why she is the chosen.

I've been thinking about this page a lot this week. You know what that means.

The range of emotions you gave Arua is wonderful. Panel 1 shows her irritated, angry, unsure what is happening but with gritty determination preparing for a fight. How far she has come from the scared little priestess we saw at the very beginning.

Panel 2 focuses on poor Garry. He addresses her as "Lady Arua. Not Arua, not [Rank] Arua, not Archon, "Lady" Arua. This is not how you would address a fellow soldier, or even a superior. It is a greeting one would use for nobility, someone far above your station. Garry has not necessarily seen Arua in action; but, like the old gnome we met in Absolution, he knows who and what she is. And the following panel proves it.

In Panel 3 all the anger is gone from Arua, replaced by shock, surprise, concern. One of her fellows is lying in a pool of his own blood, mortally wounded, slowly dying. This is something new, and terrible for Arua to deal with. She's put her own life in danger before, and Veja has followed her into danger. But this is different: these are people she knows and works with, and cares for.

And Panel 4, it all hits her at once. That is the face of pain, of sorrow, of anguish. She's just been told that the people she's dedicated her life to protecting have now completely turned on her in the most violent way possible. All she has fought for placed in danger. And much worse, she has just come face to face with the realization that people are dying...for her. People are giving their lives to protect her, including this ordinary man who is urging her to leave him to die and save herself. Panel 4 is the forlorn face of the warrior who has time and again put herself between the innocent and darkest evil, and suddenly sees that it's not enough.

I believe she will get both of them out of there. Whether Garry ultimately survives through this only the author knows. But she is going to give it her all, because nothing else will do. She's not losing this one unless a greater force rips his life out of her hands.

And she is going to make sure that someone pays a terrible price for what they have done.
