Her plan would work but for one tiny flaw:

Arua has faced being broken before, and she's alive today because she faced down each attempt. She's questioned her own worth as a servant of The Light. She's questioned her own worth as the Archon. Each time, The Light has vindicated her.

Now this nobody thinks she can break the chosen of The Light. And Arua has seen what this nobody has done. She has seen it in the pained eyes of an old gnome who died in her arms using his last breath to beg for the salvation of those who remained.

It's a strange thing how we can see the worth of another, but it's hard to see the worth in our selves.
