I don't know if it was the emotion of the circumstances, the tender grace of Arua, or the fact I'm sick as a dog this morning, or all three: but I thought the first two panels were the most striking I have seen from you in the comic. The lighting and shading; the pure expression of emotion, especially the sadness of Panel 2, in Arua's face; the agony and desperate longing in the dying gnome's face; all the elements come together in those two panels to deliver an emotional hammer blow.
And I find it not mysterious at all, and indeed immensely satisfying, that in his last moments he recognized and understood exactly who and what Arua is.
Arua knows her mission now. As another of my beloved heroes once said: "No more running. I aim to misbehave."
