Also; meant to mention this on the last page, but Divinity is also a great game. I love the opening menu theme so much. Good memories of a 4 skeleton undead group, Rain, and poison use. We never finished the game, though...
Also to answer a bit of your Elden ring comment. Of the souls games it's the easiest to get into because of the open world. It lets you practice combat with a lot of different enemy types and if you die you can just ride past them all and pick up your runes again.
As far as the lore goes all of it is in the game I think but it's hidden in item descriptions and environment details so I never know still quite know whats going on in the game but I too love watching the dark souls lore videos.
