Arua couldn't possibly have even known Tirea's brother, as she and Veja would have still been in the Kingdom of the Sky when he died. Arua couldn't have saved him because she wasn't there.
I'm not the author, but I think this needs to be a "Dad get over yourself" moment. He doesn't understand exactly what's going on, but how could he object if he did? Arua's risked her life for all of theirs. But if he can't/refuses to understand, then good-bye, he just lost his daughter again.
So Arua still wasn't there, she just wasn't sky high at that moment.
