Cer'veja knows a thing or two about avoiding trouble. Or at lest the consequences of trouble.

Arua Panel 1: "Eh heh, surely it's not as bad over...."

Veja lost his brother in the process of learning that instinct, so he's very aware.

First order of business: start talking to townspeople.

Why people instead of military? Because if they see Arua talking to the military first, people will assume she's with them and will clam shut. If she talks with people first, odds are she will have useful information to exchange with the military types.

Second: Talk to Thousand Lands. Why them? Because she left on good terms with their king. Feur King...not so good. Let TL run interference for her.

Finally, on learning lessons: never promise something when you already have too much work. I was working on "work" until 10pm last night. I'll get back to GRATZ growth later in the day...I hope.

Arua's talk with the Feuer king end with her being roughly flung out of town.

I guess neither Feuer nor the Thousand Lands can figure out how Almier doors work. They just want a nice meal and bed for the night. Or they got wind of the experimental bombs. Or maybe they're looking for a birthday present for me. Or they're just plain rude and have never occupied a city before.

Also, Arua's looking pretty cool in that new voting picture but the outfit personally looks uncomfortable to me. Then again, she is larger than me proportionally.

The hoof make foot wear really hard... What you don't think she's not wearing boots?

Wait, she has boots?

Trying this again. While working. Nothing can go wrong....

So, for January we hit #184 on the webcomic list. BY THE WAY, voting is a bit lax right now. Please vote every day, that's what helps Lacking's work get seen by more eyes. How did we get here, and where did we come from?

Back in January of "2020" (remember that year?) we started at #410.... Yes. Not bad considering we ended 2019 at #434. And these were wildly good numbers considering the comic began 2018 at #538, and spent most of that year bouncing between 614 - 737. 2018 was the first year that the comic flirted with the 300s rankings, hitting #316 in October 2018, #327 in November, and ending 2018 at #364.

2019, then, would not prove a good year for GRATZ. After that start at #305 in January, the comic would not post in the 300s again until August of that year, when it came in at #374. For unknown reasons the comic hemorrhaged votes throughout most of the year, dropping into double digits for several months. This is why the year ending results were considered "good."

Now we come to 2020...also known as "That year"; aka "The Time of Hell." For all the bad things, 2020 would prove to be a very good year for GRATZ. After spending the first 5 months moving between 410, 398, 341, 451, 376, the comic hit a major milestone ending June of 2020 at #270, it's heretofore biggest month ever. The 293 total votes that month was also a record. July and August continued to post results in the high 200s, 290 and 292 respectively. September saw just a slight dip to #301, while October snapped right back to #290.

Then November happened.

November, 2020 blew away all previous records for GRATZ. That month the comic soared all the way to #264, and 317 total votes. I remarked at the time that this was a huge accomplishment, but also tossed out a challenge to try for better. Little did I realize what I was doing. December 2020 blew away November with you readers giving Lacking the Christmas present of GRATZ moving up to #251, and 325 total monthly votes. I was ecstatic.

And THEN...you wonderful people, readers who love GRATZ, some who have been faithful readers for years, pushed Lacking's work of love into even greater heights. 448 monthly motes; ranking of #184 on the Top Webcomic list. Last year if anyone had asked me if this was possible I would have replied "Anything is possible, but I don't honestly think it's is likely."

You, dedicated readers, have shown you can do wonderful things. Please keep going. Please keep voting every single day. It's so easy, takes less than a minute. Keep pushing GRATZ higher and higher so that Lacking's work gets the audience we all know it deserves.

That is some amazing record keeping. I don't do any of that so it's surprising to me to see how far Gratz has come.

"Then November happened."

Well, according to my history, early in November/late October is n when I (and likely many others) discovered Gratz from a listing on Belfry Webcomics. That may have had something to do with it.
